After the holiday hullabaloo has passed, the transition into the quiet of Winter can sometimes be jarring and accompanied by bouts of seasonal blues. This week to remedy that and aid in a smooth transition from celebration mode to deep Winter meditation mode we’ll practice Viloma Pranayama on the inhalations.
Viloma means “against the grain.” When you rub your hand against the grain of wood it feels rough. That’s the way viloma pranayama feels as you divide the inhalations or exhalations into several parts.
Dividing the inhalations into several parts is supposed to be invigorating. If you’re feeling a little post holiday blues, then this week’s recordings are for you. When practiced in the right way at the right time, viloma on the inhalations will lead us to a state that is uplifted, alert, cheerfully focused, and ready to enter a meditative state.
Enjoy! Love,
Shala
